"When I saw Shepard Fairey along with other artists on the Colbert show making changes to the Colbert portrait, I wished I had been chosen to participate. My paintings of President Obama were displayed with Shepard Fairey's work at the Manifest Hope Gallery in Denver during the Democratic National Convention. My Obama paintings appeared on the front page of the New York Times and in the Diversity Inauguration Calendar. Three of my Obama Paintings are featured in the Shepard Fairey book "Art For Obama". - Ron Keas |
Here is the link that explains the contest. Below are four entries with changes by Ron Keas . |

It shows a young boy, reminiscent of JFK Jr. saluting the statue of Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial. |
A framed print of the President Palin Portrait was given to Sarah on her birthday. February 11, 2011. |

This is the only 3-D entry in the contest. How can Colbert resist looking at it with 3-D glasses? It took some doing, all my own techniques. The idea is that Colbert always pretends to be frightened of Bears. He's even afraid of a Teddy Bear. It looks like this Bear is out after Steven's job. Added to the humor is the Bears name, Cole. (Cole Bear) The print can be viewed in 3-D with glasses, or 2-D without glasses. |
This entry shows the Ron Keas oil painting of "Shepard Fairey" in the background. Ron Keas painted the Shepard Fairey painting as a pun on Shepard's name. Three of Ron's President Obama oil paintings are featured in Shepard Fairey's book Art For Obama. |
The background painting in this one is the new oil on canvas painting of Donald Trump as "The Trump Card" Steven is saluting the money factor. This one could be called 'Two Jokers." |
